Erratic BSNL service irk people | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Dec 23: Frequent snapping of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) services during last few weeks has irked the subscribers in Rajouri and Poonch districts. For the last three days, the broadband service was made available to the subscribers for only 5-7 hours resulting in mental agony to its subscribers. Not only the subscribers but the district administration also finding hardships in its routine working which was also admitted by Shabir Ahmed Bhat, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri. He said that he had taken up the matter with the top brass of the BSNL at Jammu and it came to our notice that Optical Fiber Cable (OFC) is being laid by the contractors from Rajouri to Jammu and at various places contractors have pressed JCB machine for speedy work resulting in frequent damage to already laid BSNL's OFC network. Pertinently, new OFC laying work exclusively for the use of Army is in progress from Rajouri to Jammu and the contractors have pressed several JCBs to execute the work. As per BSNL officials no JCB machine can be engaged for trenching purpose to lay the OFC and the company, reportedly executing the work belong to a powerful politicians at Centre, has engaged many JCB machines thus violating the rules/regulations. "Following several complaints from the subscribers and hampering of official works in the absence of Broad Band services , the administration has decided to ban the use of JCB machines and in this direction a decision will be taken soon" said Deputy Commissioner. Chief General Mananger Telephone (CGMT) Jammu, Dr Labh Singh who was not aware about frequent snapping of BSNL services in Rajouri -Poonch district said that necessary directions have been issued to the concerned officials so that the hustle free services can been provided to the subscribers. For the last three days subscribers have been facing many hardships as there was no Broad Band service present . As the new OFC cable is being laid by M/S Sterlite Tech Ltd , Trikuta Nagar,Jammu under the supervision of BSNL authorities, the frequent damge to BSNL's OFC has created many problems for the district administration to carry out its urgent works including implementation of National Food Security Act (NFSA). Keeping in view the urgency of normal functioning of the government offices , banks etc Shabir Ahmed Bhat, Deputy Commissioner (also District Magistrate) vide his office order No.GBI 3500-3510 dt 23/12/15 has banned the use of JCB machines for digging trenches for laying OFC for Network spectrum within the territorial jurisdiction of Rajouri district. |
