SaMaPa classical music workshop concludes | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 23: A classical music workshop held in Rich Harvest School, Bari Brahmana, Jammu by SaMaPa concluded today. This year SaMaPa conducted a number of workshops for students at various institutes of Jammu. SaMaPa has specially conceived these workshops with an aim to create a platform where learned musicians and scholars can interact with the young students thereby enhancing their vision. Jagdeep Kaur and Amarjot Kaur accompanied by Chanchal Singh and Sukhmani from SaMaPa conducted the workshop. The aim of the workshop was to bring awareness amongst the students about the basics of Indian classical music and how learning this art of music can enhance the development of a child. Students were taught the basics of Indian classical tradition through Power Point presentation. Emphasis was given on voice cultural, Swar lagan, Swar shuddhi through Swar sadhna. The students were also briefed on certain technical aspects of raga system like the formation of Thaats and Ragas out of the seven notes. The students were also taught a Bandish in Raga Bhopali. The workshop was attended by a large number of students of different age groups. . SaMaPa (Sopori Academy of Music And Performing Arts) is a cultural movement translating from a deep rooted vision of the music legend Pandit Bhajan Sopori and music maestro Abhay Rustum Sopori and is acclaimed as a cultural bridge of the State of Jammu & Kashmir with rest of the country. |
