| BJP, Cong leaders left red faced | | Basohli Bridge Inauguration | | Basohli, Dec 24 : Local BJP and Congress leaders, who were busy patting their back for government constructing Basohli bridge on river Ravi, were left red faced on Thursday as their names were not mentioned on the formal plaque at the project site. When Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar inaugurated the bridge this afternoon none of the politicians found their name etched on the formal plaque at the project site. Names of Manohar Parrikar, Dr Jitendra Singh and Army Chief Dalbir Singh were only written on the commemorative plaque.
Several other politicians especially from the Congress party who were busy taking credit for laying the foundation stone of the project in May 2011 were not even invited to attend the event. A senior BJP Minister cited official reasons to skip the event but Thursday being a holiday on account of Eid-e-Milad- u- Nabi it was not clear where the meeting took place.
Another senior Minister, who was wearing a in traditional dress and a pagdi, and was present on the site to welcome the guests cut a sorry figure when he found his name missing from the plaque despite him being a local MLA of the area. |
