'No politics Mr Haq, upgrade existing tourist destinations' | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Dec 24: Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Abdul Haq intends to bring the Lolab Valley on the international tourist map. He also laid foundation for huts at Lalpora. Taking tourism to Lolab Valley has been a long pending demand of the local people but before going for the venture, the minister has to take a series of measures especially if the valley has to be opened for international tourists. Successive governments have failed to upgrade the facilities at the existing destinations. Some places have been vandalised in the name of development. The priority of the government should have been to set things right at the destinations that have been widely acclaimed across the globe. But now that the government wants to open a new destination for political reasons, a series of measures have to be taken to make it a reality. The minister has to construct roads in the first go. Without proper roads, the dream cannot come true. The minister also has to ensure uninterrupted electric supply. Lolab valley is an ideal place for camping but not all the tourists are interested in the activity. The tourists need modern facilities ranging from gyms, swimming pools and recreation centres. Lolab is a summer destination and the concerned have to develop it accordingly. In winter, the valley is covered with a thick layer of snow and the area almost becomes inaccessible. |
