SAD (B) holds meet | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 24: Shiromani Akali Dal (B) Jammu today held meeting of all the Sikh organizations in order to discuss the problems being faced by the Sikh community in the State. Initiating the discussion regarding problems of Sikh Community, it was disclosed that Sikhs are facing complete alienation in political set up in the state. There is no minister of our community to highlight and solve our problems. Even the community has no MLA in the Assembly. Before independent even during Maharaj's rule Sikh representation was in Assembly by nomination. We are in microscopic minority in the state. Our persistence demand for enacting Minority Act in the state has not been fulfilled and depriving us from the facilities which are available under this act like reservation in Institutions, scholarships & employment. Punbabi is our mother tongue & is a widely spoken language in the state but despite issue of SRO, no Punjabi teacher is being appointed in school, thus causing complete neglect of our justified & genuine demand. All the participants were of the view that either to boycott the elections or give wholehearted full support to the Sikh candidates in the ensuring Municipal, Local Bodies and Panchayat elections. |
