Bandh observed against militant attack | | | Early Times Report Anantnag, Dec 25: Chief Minister Mufti Mohmmad Sayeed's home town Bijbehara on Friday observed a complete shutdown in protest against the yesterday's militant attack that had led to injuries to two police personnel. Reports reaching here said the business establishments remained closed in the town, particularly in Telhi Mohalla, Guriwan and Baba Mohalla. While the shops on Srinagar-Jammu National highway opposite to Sub-District Hospital, Bijbehara, also remained closed. However, the vehicular traffic plied normally on the highway and on other routes. People, including young and old, were heard criticising the militant attack in which Bijbehara SDPO Irshad Ahmad Rather was wounded. Some were heard showering praises on the SDPO for his crusade against the drug mafia. The HM militants had yesterday attacked him while he was in the town to accompany a Milad-u-Nabi (SAW) procession as part of his duty. In the attack, Rather and his PSO Tanveer Ahmad sustained critical injuries. Both the injured were evacuated to Sub-district hospital Bijbehara where from they were shifted to Army's Badamibagh cantonment hospital in Srinagar for specialized treatment. |
