Hidyal Chowk turns into epitome of communal harmony 12/25/2015 11:53:08 PM Asif Iqbal Naik Early Times Report Kishtwar, Dec 25 : Sinking 'differences', people from both the communities, including Hindu shopkeepers, last evening assembled at Hidyal Chowk in the heart of the town here and illuminated it with candles to mark the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad . The shopkeepers and people hailing from the adjoining areas assembled at the chowk at around 7.30 pm and illuminated it with candles. While talking to "Early Times", those living around the Hidyal Chowk said that people from both the communities had understood the value of maintaining peace and communal harmony. A committee would be formed to celebrate festivals like Eid and Diwali together at the chowk, they added. The people attributed the significant development at the chowk to the series of meetings held by senior police officers with the people of both the communities. The elders hoped that the new practice would help to strengthen the communal harmony and brotherhood in Kishtwar district. "Peace is imperative for development and there is no substitute to it" said DSP (headquarters), Kishtwar.
