Early Times Report

Srinagar, Dec 25: Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who is known to tweet on anything, yet again tried to ridicule his successor Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, only to face brickbats, which forced him to eat a humble pie on the micro-blogging website.
Amid a surprising development that Modi visited Pakistan today, the unnerved National Conference President, Omar Abdullah took to his twitter account. He was so eager to comment that hours before Modi would land in Pakistan, he twitted: "Now waiting for the statement from J&K Govt claiming that Mufti Sayeed was the one who forced PM Modi to visit Lahore today."
Omar, must have expected that people would admire his "sense of humor." But most of the people took his post seriously only to bash him online.
"At least u couldnt do it to ManMohan. Accept it," wrote one of his follower. Another follower defended the Indian nationhood. "Omar Abdullah, Modi went there to get back Azad Kashmir," he posted.
One Anil Kumar at handler ?@Anil_Aarush went to the extent of asking Umar to shut his mouth as he "being jobless, speaks nonsense." "@abdullah_omar Jaa … kahin ghum aao bhai to bahut free hai bakwaas kiye ja raha hai," the follower posted.
Apparently embarrassed for his premature tweet, later in the day Omar Abdullah hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Pakistan as a "good step".
"The re-engagement with Pakistan is a good step and a very welcome development," Abdullah tweeted as Modi was set to land in Lahore to meet his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif on his way back from Kabul to New Delhi.
"However, more than grand gestures we need consistency (in India-Pakistan relations)," the National Conference leader said in tweets adding "Indo-Pakistan relations have been plagued by knee-jerk reactions and a lack of consistency. Looking towards the two Prime Ministers to correct this time."
As if the tweets of Omar were not enough his close aide in the NC, Tanvir Sadiq, as usual came out in support of his master. He too prematurely posted a tweet over the results of the Modi-Sharif dialogue when Modi was yet to have met Sharif.
"It is a welcome step, but nothing concrete. If it has to succeed it has to be off the beaten track," Sadiq tweeted. But like Omar, he too was beaten. "Your reaction is premature to an intercourse of talks which is yet to take place: How silly!" reacted one Zaara Banu.
A few months back, when Omar had posted pictures of eating Wazwan at the Baraat of his colleague, some of the senior party leaders had claimed to have approached his father, Dr Farooq Abdullah, to register their complaint. "When will Omar Sahib behave like a mature politician? He makes immature statements as if he is a kid," a senior leader had claimed to have told Dr Farooq.
Despite repeated attempts Omar Abdullah or Tanvir Sadiq could not be contacted for comments.
