‘Address bigger issues, Mr Singh’ | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 25: The Health Minister, launched e-Aushadhi, a web based supply chain management application. The application, Health Minister believes will keep a check on purchases, inventory management and distribution of various drugs and surgical items to various regional and district drug warehouses, district hospitals, primary health centres and community health centres. While one hopes the application to work properly in this state where `poplars alone are straight', the Health Minister has missed a point of vital importance-the quality of drugs purchased by the state and supplied to the state for government run hospitals and health centres and the drugs supplied to the state by various companies. The drugs that are sold brazenly in the state are spurious and sub-standard. The state's own machinery has time and again established it. Action was also taken against some influential druggists but they were soon let off as politicians came rushing to their rescue. Health Minister, therefore, is not doing any favour to the state by launching the application. It will like other applications go out of order in a week or so and the evil practices shall continue. He better launch something to ensure supply of quality drugs to the state. He has to go beyond aprons and attendance of doctors and para-medical staff in hospitals. This can be done by an ordinary bureaucrat. The `dynamic' Minister need not waste his energy on petty issues. Let him address bigger issues. |
