'Humiliation' for BJP Minister as PHQ refuses to cancel Inspector's transfer order | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 25: A BJP Minister had to eat a humble pie after police headquarters (PHQ) said 'no' to his proposal for cancelling the transfer order of an Inspector. After the PHQ last week transferred the Inspector outside Jammu district and changed his wing, he rushed to a BJP Minister, urging him to get his transfer order cancelled, according to police sources. Sources said the Minister called up a senior officer at the PHQ, but had to face humiliation as the latter was prompt in expressing his helplessness to oblige him in retaining the Inspector in Jammu. The officer told the Minister that it would be unfair to cancel the transfer order of the Inspector as he was posted in Jammu since long and had several complaints of 'professional misconduct' and 'corruption' against him. This Inspector has remained posted in Jammu as SHO of different police stations. Whenever he was posted outside Jammu, he got his orders cancelled by tactfully using his political connections. As SI also, he had spent most of the time in Jammu. Earlier, the PHQ had also refused to oblige three BJP Ministers who wanted to get cancelled the transfer orders of their 'favourite' Inspectors. In the transfer list of 70 Inspectors issued last week, PHQ had not considered any of the names recommended to it by the BJP Ministers. As the PHQ refusal led to the injuring of their 'pride' and 'dignity', the fretting and fuming Ministers had called up a 'top' cop and expressed their displeasure over the PHQ's act of 'disobeying' them, sources said. Downplaying the PHQ act, the top cop had told the Ministers that their 'favourite' Inspectors would be adjusted in the second transfer list as and when it was released, the sources added. Two of these BJP Ministers are residents of the same district. Sources said despite the fact that the power of transfer and appointments lies in the hands of political leadership in J&K, PHQ last Saturday ordered the shifting of 'sycophant' Inspectors, who, against its wishes and with the blessings of some BJP Ministers, were holding 'significant' postings in Jammu. |
