Jammu, Dec 25 : Aditi Welfare India Charitable Trust (AWICT) today criticized the police department for allegedly helping the rape accused and his family of Gandoh, besides allegedly pressurizing the victim's family for compromise. Addressing media persons, Aditi Sharma said that on 21st of October, an FIR was lodged by the family members in police station Gandoh against the accused and his father for raping their minor girl. "Though a case under section 376 is registered against the accused and girl had also undergone an operation for abortion, but due to strong economical background of the accused family, they are running scot free", Aditi Sharma said. She further alleged that victim girl was only 12 years old and the accused boy along with his father was also involved in the heinous crime. "When I talked to DySP on phone, I was surprised with the reply of DySP, who said that they will help girl to take the examination and also for compromise", she alleged. "How a rape accused is released within few days. It can only be possible by greasing the palms of police officials and strong influence of accused family, otherwise it is beyond imagination, how a rape accused is roaming scot free", she alleged. Aditi Sharma further alleged that the victim's family was under pressure and has been getting repeated threats for compromise. "Police has not handled the case properly due to which the accused is released on bail", she alleged, adding that the higher officials of police department must instruct the Station House Officer Gandoh, DySP for properly handling the case, otherwise the morale of criminals would boost. Contesting the claims of Aditi Sharma, SHO Gandoh said that there was no leniency on police side as per investigation was concerned. "The accused and victim are cousins and after two months, when the girl complaint of pain she was admitted to Kishtwar hospital, where she was found pregnant", he said. He further said that on her revelation, the accused boy along with his father was arrested and produced before court. "The court had granted bail to the accused and that too after the accused (a minor) spent nearly 50 days in RS Pura rehabilitation home", he said, adding that they were waiting for the medical report and there was no issue of pressuring the accused and her family. |
