MOHD IRFAN JAMMU, Jan 21: The Jammu and Kashmir is facing worst ever ration crisis as consumers are deprived of ration according to scale for several months. Even the ration dealers decry incapability of the CAPD for not providing the requisite quota of ration due to which they have to face wrath of consumers. Sources divulged that as winter season is at peak and it is obligatory on the part CAPD to dump the ration before the onset of winter, people are complaining of scarcity of ration not only in cities but also in peripheral areas. "As after several months PDS sugar was made available in the month of December and again there is dearth of sugar" sources disclosed, adding, even in the previous years consumers didn't get the sugar even on the festivals and the department pleaded that ad the contact between the millers expired and once the contract with new supplier is inked, the sugar would be available on PDS depots. When contacted director CAPD jammu G S Chib said "Due to on -going strike of the labourers of the department pertaining to their demands, working in the department has been affected causing scarcity of ration at depots". On being asked regarding non availability of sugar, Chib said, " Though sugar supply was affected in the last few months, but the issues have been sorted out and now on the sugar shall be available in the depots". |
