Srinagar, Jan 21: PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti is likely to give big role to her brother Tassaduq Mufti after she takes over as Chief Minister of J&K.
Tassaduq attended the recent meeting of the PDP's core group chaired by Mehbooba at here residence here. Sources however said that Tassaduq, a cinematographer, is reluctant about joining politics.
One of the PDP leaders said that Tassaduq in the past has been involved in many initiatives on heritage and tourism in Kashmir. "He is the only person who has been with Mehbooba since Mufti died," sources said.
It is to mention here that Tassaduq has never been in politics despite belonging to a political family.
Tassaduq has hardly lived in Kashmir and is presently working as a cinematographer. He has studied cinematography in the US. After his first film, Omkara, Ravi K Chandran, one of India's best directors of photography called him one of the "most outstanding cameramen in India.
A senior PDP leader said during all these days since the day Mufti passed away, Mehbooba has hardly be seen in public without Tassaduq.
"She is having close door meetings with her brother these days and would come up with her final decision soon," a PDP insider said.
"By allowing her brother to take part in PDP's core group, Mehbooba has already signaled that her brother was ready to join politics. It is more possible that she would leave her Lok Sabha seat of South Kashmir for her brother before taking the reins of the State," sources said. |
