'Controller Exam, Director CDC ineligible for these positions'
1/21/2016 11:56:49 PM
Jammu, Jan 21: In an embarrassing development for the Jammu University, its own panel has described the appointments of the university's incumbent Controller of Examination and Director Colleges Development Council as illegal. In its report submitted to the university, the three-member panel has held Sanjeev Mahajan as well as Jai Kumar Sharma as ineligible for the post of Controller Examination and Director Colleges Development Council, respectively. The panel, headed by Prof Kuldeep Sharma, was constituted to ascertain the eligibility of these two officers for the posts of Registrar,
Controller Examination and Director Colleges Development Council, the three topmost positions in Jammu University, for which the duo has applied. Pertinent to mention that the Jammu University has advertized these three positions for inviting applications from the eligible candidates and Sanjeev Mahajan has applied for the posts of Registrar and Controller Examination while Jai Kumar Sharma has applied for the posts of Registrar and Director Colleges Development Council. Since there was some controversy over eligibility of these two officers for the top positions, the Jammu University constituted a committee of three members, including Prof Kuldeep Sharma, Prof R K Ganjoo and Prof Rajni Dhingra. According to the sources, the committee found that both the officers are not eligible as candidates for top positions since they were not in the Grade Pay of Rs 37000-10000-67000, which is entitled to the Professors only. These officers are in the Grade Pay of Rs 37000-8700-67000, and hence below even to the ranks of Associate Professors, sources added. In view of this fact, the committee not only rejected the candidature of these two officers but also observed that they are not eligible even for the incharge positions on these posts. The observations of this committee report, which has been submitted to the Vice-Chancellor, has put a question mark on the continuation of Sanjeev Mahajan and Jai Kumar Sharma as Incharge Controller Examination and Incharge Director CDC, respectively.
Even as no decision on the fate of these two officers has yet been taken, sources said that the matter is likely to be discussed in the committee of Deans very soon for a face saving to the Jammu University.
