Jammu, Jan 21: Despite their selection by Public Service Commission, more than 100 consultants from Jammu region are waiting for posting for past one month. In Kashmir province, on the other hand, the consultants who were selected have already joined their respective places of posting.
Sources in Health and Medical Education (H&ME) Department told Early Times that in 2014, nearly 260 posts for Pathology, Orthopaedic, Surgery, Peadiatrics, Ophthalmology, Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT), Medicine, Gynaecology and others were referred to Public Service Commission (PSC) to overcome the shortage of doctors in the government run hospital as well as to streamline the Healthcare facilities in the state.
"But due to some political interest these posts were not advertised by the PSC in the same year. These were advertised in 2015 and interviews of consultants for the posts were also conducted from September to August," sources claimed adding the section list of consultants for 260 posts was published in October 2015 by PSC and they were given 21 days to join their respective directorates in Jammu and Kashmir.
One of consultants while talking to Early Times said that from December till date they are hearing that the order is under process and would be issued within a few days. "Till date nothing has been done in this regard. It seems H&ME department is purposely sitting over the issue. On the other hand posting orders of doctors in Kashmir region were issued soon after the list was released," he added.
"It seems the department is not interested in posting the doctors in Jammu province. The claims of government that necessary steps have been taken to meet the shortage of doctors in the state stand punctured," he said. "On the other hand doctors have already joined their places of posting in Kashmir division."
He said, "We were hoping that with the imposition of Governor's Rule in the state H&ME department would become active and orders would be issued soon but due to lackadaisical approach of the senior officials of the department the list has still not seen the light of the day and its stuck." |
