Poonch, Jan 21 : Taking cognizance of the news report published in Early Times, authorities on Thursday restarted the work on Kund-Behra water supply scheme. Pertinently, ET in its January 20 edition had published a news item where in it was revealed the 59 GCI pipes of various dias were going out of PHE department stores without relevant documents, but due to timely action the material was delivered at proper place due to which work on 1100 mtrs long length pipe was restarted . Sources said that the 59 GCI pipes of one inch and 1¼ inch dia would cover 350 mtrs length and more pipes were required to cover other 750 mtrs length of pipe laying. The requisite for further material is under process, added sources. By laying the 1100 mtrs long pipeline, the Kund-Behra Water supply scheme will benefit nearly 50-55 villages comprising of 500 souls of the area a heaved a sign of the area, sources revealed. People of these areas heaved a sigh of relief after learning that work on Kund-Behra water supply scheme has been started. They said we were facing lot of hardships in absence of fresh drinking water as these villages fall in remote areas. When contacted assistant Engineer Ishfaq Ahmed who is also Technical Officer for this scheme said that we have sent requisite GCI pipes. XEn PHE Sub-Division Israr Khan told Early Times that "As soon as we receive the material we will be able to complete the work within fortnight to benefit the populace of the area." |
