Amarnath Yatra dates announced, pilgrimage journey to commence from July 2 | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 21 : The Chairman of the Amarnathji Shrine Board N N Vohra announced that the annual 48-day Yatra will begin from July 2 and conclude on August 18. The decision was taken by Jammu Kashmir Governor who presided the 30th board meeting which was held in New Delhi, an official handout said on Thursday. The journey to the pilgrimage has been in controversy all the time due to its location and the danger aspect of terrorist attacks, as it had faced earlier. According to the handout, the shrine board is all prepared to organise the holy journey and have taken all the preventive measure to tackle any untoward incident. The handout further added that not more than 75oo pilgrims would be allowed to participate in the Yatra on per day per route basis and their registrations too won't be considered either, due to security reasons. It said, "Regarding the duration and date of commencement of Yatra 2016, based on the approach set out by the Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Committee which had been set up to advise the Board regarding the duration and schedule of future Yatras, the Board, keeping in view the foremost concern of safety and security of the pilgrims, decided that a 48 day Yatra would commence on 2nd July 2016, an auspicious day - Massik Shivratri - as per Hindu Calendar and conclude on Shravan Purnima (Raksha Bandan) on 18th August 2016." |
