JAMMU, Jan 21 : Appealing the Governor to introduce biometric attendance system in Jammu University (JU) as the same has been done in all the government offices to improve the work culture, the National Secular Forum (NSF) said that installation of such a system could help in checking the absenteeism of Varsity teachers and officials. Addressing a press conference here today, NSF General Secretary Narinder Singh said, "The absenteeism and lack of accountability has touched a new high in University of Jammu owing to poor administration of Vice Chancellor Prof Ramji Dass Sharma owing to which students and scholars have been suffering badly," he said. He added that teaching and research work had received a setback due to the lack of accountability on the part of teachers and officials but the Vice Chancellor and Registrar have failed to control this nuisance. "The state government recently introduced the biometric attendance system in all the government departments to ensure attendance in all the offices so that work would not suffer," he further said. "If Governor (who is also Chancellor of the University) to think about Jammu University also which is suffering badly. Biometric attendance system should be introduced in the University to put a check on teachers and officials who are taking hefty salary but contributing none to the system," he demanded. |
