Six bookies nabbed, mobiles, laptop, cash worth Rs 45700/- seized | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 21 : Alert Channi Himmat Police today claimed to have busted a 'bookies racket' with the arrest of six accused besides recovering cash amounting to Rs 45700/-, 10 mobile phones, two diaries and a Laptop during a raid at the residence of one of the accused. According to police, the accused have been identified namely as Suresh Pachnanda s/o Raj Kumar of 46 Sec-3 Channi Himmat, Suresh Kumar s/o Kewal Krishan Gupta of 16 Purani Mandi, Arun Kumar s/o Guri Shankar of Mastgrah, Rakesh Singh s/o Janak Singh of Chinore, Paramjeet Singh s/o Narinder Singh of 660, Kanak Mandi and Ishant Gupta s/o Vinod Gupta of 97/F Talab Khatikan. "On specific information about the some persons operating from a house in the locality and are betting on the matches played between India and Australia during ongoing cricket series, the police conducted a raid at the house of Suresh Pachnanda and apprehended above said six accused, police sources said, adding, "the police team also recovered 10 mobiles, two diaries, one laptop and cash amounting to Rs 45700/- from the spot." "The catch was made during the raid conducted at the hideout of the bookies, a senior police officer confirmed when contacted. He added that though the case is under investigation but the accused under planned modus oprendii were operating through different mobiles phones and betting online websites of the bookies. The accused have been put on sustained questioning and police expects some more arrests on their revelations.
