Train derails due to dense foggy conditions in Katra | | | Shiv Dev Thakur

KATRA, Jan 23: The foggy weather continues to hit Holy Town Katra proving it as a source of needless botheration to Railway authorities as a train got derailed from the track at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Railway Station Katra in the early morning but no causality reported making the railways personal to grapple for hours together to bring the derailed bogies back on track. Not only the private ones but the Government authorities including Education department, Railways also got effected because of the prevailing fog as the Education department changed the timings of the educational institutions and the Railways winded up many trains. Sources rued that a train got derailed from the track at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Railway Station Katra at about 5:00 am this morning while it was moving towards the Yard for maintainence as well as washing. Sources added that no casuality has been reported as the boggies were moving out of the passengers. Meanwhile, sources in the sharp contrast said that due to the prevailing foggy weather, many of the trains to Katra were wound-up by the railway authorities on a temporary basis. "Due to dense fog, the departure and arrival of flights is few hours late from their scheduled timings and the incoming of the pilgrimage was affected in the town," said a hotelier adding that this will lead to the cancelation of many bookings. An official of Meteorology department when contacted said that the foggy weather conditions continue and will prevail for next three days bringing no respite from chill, adding that the said conditions will also remain dry till January 27. "Mainly cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the state till January ending and there is no sign of arrival of trigger rains in the State and the weather is likely to remain dry by end of the month," he said. |
