4 yrs on, MVD fails to achieve target to install HSRPs | | | G S Asgotra
Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 23 : Keeping in view the security of the citizens and rationalizing the functioning of transportation, the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) had fixed two years target to complete installation of High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) in 2012 for commercial and non-commercial vehicles but astonishingly after lapse of four of four years the installation work is still hanging in balance. Sources told Early Times that in financial year 2012-2013, the NC-Congress government led by Omar Abdullah had initiated the installation of HSRP and was assigned the work of installation to a Delhi based firm- Real Mazon India Limited (RMIL) but after lapse of four years, neither the NC-congress government nor PDP- BJP has succeeded to complete the installation of HSRP. "Both the governments not even penalized to Dehli based firm for not competition of installation work in stipulated time period while both the governments had seem busy to extending deadlines after deadline", source said wishing not to be mentioned. Source further said that however, when the department concerned had contemplated the installation of HSRPs in commercial and non-commercial vehicles, it was decided that firstly we would install HSRP in the vehicles which would be registered in years 2012, 2013 and 2014 and then old vehicles (already plying on road) would be registered in near future. "Unfortunately, the department concerned still failed to install HSRPs in those vehicles which are registered in these years in respective districts department", source added. "The callous approach of the department gauged from this fact that lakhs of vehicles were still waiting installation of HSRP which are registered in 2012, 2013, 2014 while the old vehicles which are already registered in previous years would be considered", said source. Pertinently, however, the Apex court had directed to all the states to install HSRPs within two years but showing thumb to order of apex court, the previous two coalition government have offered more and more deadlines to Dehli based company which has failed to installation of HSRPs in time frame which were announced by Omar led government. |
