CEO withholds salary of GMS Dhanidar's teaching staff for dereliction in duty | | | Early Times Report
RAJOURI, Jan 23: Chief Education Officer (CEO) Rajouri has withheld the salary of the staff of Government Middle School (GMS), Dhanidar for irregularities and below average academic standard of the students. Pertinently Education department has posted seven qualified teachers at Government Middle School at Dhanidar few hundred metres from the district headquarters even as only 42 students were enrolled in the school during current academic session. On the directions from CEO Ch Altaf Hussain, a team of Education department led by HoD DIET Nagesh Sharma and assisted by Principal Government Higher Secondary School Saj and a senior lecturer from DIET recently paid a surprise visit to this school. "During surprise visit only three teachers were present in the school while in-charge headmaster along with three teachers were on casual leave but the leave of the three teachers was not entered in the records while the leave for in-charge headmaster was admitted only for first half," said team members. In the report submitted by the inspection team to CEO it was also mentioned that the academic standard of the students was found very poor and out of three teachers two were enjoying sun shine while third was in the class room and the children were sitting on ground full of dust. "Out of the total 42 students enrolled, only 23 were present in the school. When asked simple questions, the students could not answer them and even can't read and write properly. There was no cleanliness in the school and out of 102 casual leaves availed by the headmaster only seventeen were registered in the leave account," said the inspection report. As recommended by the inspection team, the CEO has stopped the salary of entire staff including headmaster and have been given one month's time to improve the academic standard and cleanliness in the school. CEO has also directed Rajouri Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) to maintain the punctuality register and enter the same in the service books of concerned teachers. "The academic standard of the students in several schools was found well below the standard and in many cases the students even can't read and write properly. Many teachers including masters have been warned that they would be transferred to far off places if found not adhering to the directions to improve the academic standards," said CEO. |
