Timber worth lakhs seized, three wildlife employees suspended | | | Early Times Report
ANANTNAG, Jan 23: Wildlife Department on Saturday seized timber worth lakhs from Mammal Wildlife Sanctuary Pahalgam and placed three employees under suspension. Official sources told Early Times that Wildlife Warden South Kashmir, Mohd Sadiq Mir today paid a surprise visit at Mamal wildlife century and seized around 91ft timber from the residential house of local resident Noor-u- Din. They said that wildlife department visited the area after news reports surfaced suggesting wanton green loot of timber in the protected wildlife sanctuary. "A local youth informed the department about the illegal felling trees. Department acted upon the input, raided the particular house and seized the timber," official added. Sources informed that the timber was being supplied to a hotel in Pahalgam. Wildlife Warden South Kashmir has also placed three employees under suspension for the carelessness. Suspended employees were identified as Mohd Ramzan, Sajjad Ahmad and Bashir Ahmad Dar. |
