Over 219 kgs of poppy straw seized, one held | | | Early Times Report
jammu, Feb 27: In continuation to the drive launched by District Police Samba against drug peddlers/smugglers indulged in illegal trade of drugs, District Police toady achieved a major success in recovering 219 kgs of poppy straw (Bhukki) from one Punjab based person who allegedly was smuggling the consignment towards states of North India for its illegal trade. "The accused has been identified As Ashok Kumar S/O Kewal Singh R/O Village Parowal Tehsil Garh Shanker District Hoshiarpur Punjab," police spokesperson said .Police reports said that Police laid a surprise naka early this morning and conducted checking of the vehicles at Ghagwal. "During checking, Police party intercepted a Tempo Traveller bearing regd No: PB01-9975 at Ghagwal and put his vehicle on thorough search on his suspicious movement when he noticed the naka, police said. Police also added that Police recovered over 219 kgs and 350 grams of Poppy Straw (Bhukki) from the said vehicle which was hidden in the false ceiling created in it. The vehicles was seized and driver of vehicle was arrested on the spot, police added Accordingly a case under FIR No: 20/2016 u/s 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered with Police Station Ghagwal . |
