Srinagar, Feb 27: Three days after Early Times reported sale and purchase of substandard pesticides and fertilizers is going on unabated across Kashmir, authorities on Saturday raided many markets in the Valley and seized huge quantity of adulterated tree spray oils and pesticides. Taking cognizance of the news titled "Mafia stores sell substandard Pesticides, Fertilizers with impunity" the Enforcement Wing of the Agriculture Department raided many markets and took stern action against the erring traders. Working on the findings of Early Times Law Enforcement wing of Agriculture Department raided many distributors of pesticides and fertilizers in south Kashmir and took stock of availability of various tree spray oils being sold to people. Sources said that during the inspection in district Pulwama and Shopian, a team headed by District Law Enforcement Officer Anantnag and Pulwama inspected the main godowns of major petroleum companies at Sempora and Gallandar in Pampore areas and directed them to make available quality products of various T.S.O on affordable prices. Sources said that team had received inputs that the two manufacturing companies have already made available 955210 liters and 1600910 liters of to various distributors in Kashmir for further distribution to orchardists. They said during the inspection, teams found many distributors in Pulwama and Shopian selling un-authorized products of T.S.O. in contravention of Insecticides Act, of 1968 and Rules made there under. Sources said that later as part of action against these people a quantity of 36060 liters of T.S.O. were placed under sale and distributors were asked to stop orders till further orders. Orchardists have hailed the appropriate action of the department. |
