PDD officials accused of tempering casual, need base workerslist | | | Saahil Suhail Early Times Report Anantnag, Feb 27: Seeking Governor N N Vohra's immediate intervention, a group of casual and need base employees working in Power Development Department on Saturday accused senior officials of tampering with their list. Workers told Early Times that PDD officials in Bijbehara Sub-division have dropped as many as sixty workers from the list which department is going to submit to government. "Since 2009, department has verified the list several times but shockingly this time they (PDD authorities) have dropped sixty workers from the list due to unknown reasons," they said. Workers said that in 2009, a list of 146 casual workers was submitted to government after due verification but they are unable to understand why this time they have enlisted any 86 causal workers in the list. "We are serving the department since 2006 without wages and at our own risk but now after ten years department is playing with our lives," workers urging authorities to clear its stand on the position regarding the exact status of the lists of need based employees within one week. PDD Officials at Bijbehara admitted to have dropped few names from the list which they are going to submit to higher authorities for information and regularization. "It is true, list of workers as been reframed by the department. Some 86 or 90 who actually work on ground in restoring and marinating the transmission lines are been recognized during physical verification," official who is not authorized to talk to media said. He said that those workers who aren't in the list have made representations with senior officials and hopefully they will be enlisted after due verification. Executive Engineer PDD, Bijbehara Wali Mohd Mir wasn't available for a comment as he didn't answer repeated telephone calls. |
