Jammu, Feb 27 : To commemorate the ongoing Golden Jubilee Celebration of Dogra Group of Educational Institutions and to create awareness and sense of social service especially among the youth, the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Dogra College of Education (DCE) today organized a blood donation camp. According to press release, the camp was organized in collaboration with Government Medical College Jammu under the supervision of Dr. Vijay Sawhney, Prof. and Head PG Deptt. of Blood Transfusion and Medicine. The camp was inaugurated by Th. Gulchain Singh Charak, Former Minister for Higher Education, President Dogra Sadar Sabha & Chairman Dogra Educational Trust who was also the Chief Guest for the day's function. Speaking on the occasion he said that it is not only the duty of NSS volunteers, but it is the duty of all to put efforts to donate blood voluntarily, so that we have sufficient blood in the blood banks and many precious lives could be saved by using the reserve. More than 70 students and staff members volunteered for blood donation during the camp. Kr Samardev Singh Charak, Secretary Dogra Educational Trust was the first to donate blood. |
