Jammu, Mar 19: One day training programme was organized in the Directorate of Agriculture Jammu in which 75 farmers from district Doda, Ramban, Rajouri, Poonch participated. The programme was inaugurated by AK Malhotra, Joint Director Agriculture (Extension) Jammu. Speaking on the occasion Malhotra said that for sustainable agriculture the farmers are advised to diversify their agriculture techniques to focus on cash crops like vegetables, mushroom cultivation, beekeeping, floriculture etc. in addition to their normal cropping pattern. He further said that due to the continuous use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides the condition of the soil has been deteriorated to a great extent besides the environment has also been polluted to significant level. The use of chemical fertilizer and pesticides has resulted residual effect in the vegetables, fruits and other eatables because of which a number of diseases being caused to human beings and animal as well. |
