Kathua, Mar 19: A 10th class student was today allegedly held hostage by Sat Paul Badyal principal of a National Academic School Parliwand for about half an hour outside an examination hall for not paying the full tuition fee. While the student was about to enter the examination hall to take his paper, the principal Badyal appeared on the scene and stopped him as he had not paid his tuition fee, official sources alleged. After holding him hostage for about half an hour, the principal let him enter the examination hall, sources alleged. His father Vinod Kumar said since he was a labourer by profession, he could not pay the tuition fee due to financial problems. He, however, was critical of the principal's conduct, saying as his son was made to stay outside the examination hall for half an hour, this would affect his result. Radhika Mehra too expressed concern over the act of the principal Badyal for allegedly stopping her brother outside the examination hall. School principal Sat Paul Badyal said the student had not paid the balance tuition fee of Rs 29,000 despite repeated reminders. "It becomes difficult for us to run the school affairs when students don't pay tuition fee," he added. When contacted, CEO, Kathua, Balbir Singh condemned the incident and assured to take strict action against the school administration, saying every private school had the provision to teach at least 10 pc poor students without paying any fee. |
