JUTA president invites wrath of faculty members for acting as stooge of VC 3/19/2016 11:58:29 PM Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 19: As the elections of prestigious Jammu University Teachers Association are approaching nearer, intense lobbying has begun for the significant position of its president, who will be member of the apex decision making Jammu University Council. This was evident during the recently held General Body meeting of JUTA where the incumbent president J P Singh Joorel had to face wrath of the members, who labeled a number of serious allegations against him. Besides the allegations, many skeletons came out of the cupboard as general body members and opponents of Joorel highlighted the blunders as well as irregularities committed by him in league with the JU administration, particularly Vice-Chancellor Prof R D Sharma. Pertinent to mention that Prof Joorel is one of the top beneficiaries of Jammu University remunerations, which he managed in connivance with the officers concerned. Recently, as convener of the Departmental Research Committee, he even managed to get sanctioned BRS fellowship for his blue eyed scholar who was under rustication during that period for anti university activities. However, the university was forced to reject the same after Early Times highlighted this glaring irregularity in its edition. All these issues came up during the JUTA meeting thus inviting disgrace to the president, who was already in the eye of storm. Even as the president sought to justify his position vis-a-vis allegations of him working as stooge of the Vice-Chancellor, the faculty members did not mince words in criticizing the incumbent.
