Srinagar, Mar 19: A division bench of High Court has directed a police officer, investigating the theft of Holy Quran, bearing the seal of Emperor Aurangzeb, from Shri Pratap Singh (SPS) Museum in Srinagar during 2003. Hearing a Public Interest Litigation, the division bench of the court comprising Justices Muzaffar Hussain Attar and B S Walia passed the direction after senior additional advocate general N A Beigh referred to the status report filed by the crime branch, stating the case-FIR No. 106/2003, has been closed as untraced. Expressing displeasure over the status report, the court directed the investigating officer to appear before it on next date of hearing. The PIL states the archaeological excavations and artefacts of Kashmiri's rich heritage have been neglected and alleged that a number of rare coins went missing from the SPS museum. |
