NC raises garbage issue to stay relevant | | | Majid Nabi Early Times Report srinagar, Mar 19: Opportunist National Conference (NC) that enjoyed six years stint with its ally Congress for six years in the state without getting bothered about people's issues has now started politicizing Achan dumping site issue to come into 'limelight'. At a time when political deadlock has reached to its pinnacle, NC started befooling people by highlighting the alleged failures of previous PDP and BJP led government so that its own failures remain concealed. Some senior leaders of National Conference shed crocodile tears over the plight of the people after police used force against them for staging protests against the government's alleged inability to identify the alternate site for dump yard. Mubarak Gul former Speaker Assembly and MLA Eidgah, while taking potshots at the government for failing to address genuine demand of people living around the garbage dumping site said "It is unfortunate that the previous government failed people at all fronts" He said Achan garbage dumping site has become a cause of irritation for thousands of people living around it, while as the government has turned a blind eye towards this issue which has now snowballed into a major controversy. Replying to query that what steps did NC and Congress led combine government took over the issue he shamelessly replied "it's not time for accusations I personally submitted a bill in the Assembly over the issue which was ignored" Gul who was accompanied with another political artist, Er Rashid while displaying teargas shells fired by the police said "this is how voice of dissent is muzzled through might" It is pertinent to mention that people did not left a single chance to highlight Achan dumping site issue during NC Congress government however their pleas fell flat on deaf ears. "This party is really a melodramatic party, they have surpassed all the limits of opportunism, this issue was also raised when NC and Congress were in government but treated people as dumb driven cattle's that time," Shamsul Haq a resident of Aanchar Soura told 'Early Times'. He said that Achan area also falls in Mubarak Gul's constituency but he has never bothered to address this issue. "How could they do this, they should feel ashamed for befooling people ," he said. |
