Accused of issuing fake appointment orders, man denied bail | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 19: Special judge anti-corruption, Jammu, A K Koul today rejected the bail application of a man who is accused of issuing fake appointment orders to 139 persons. Mushtaq Ahmed, son of Mir Mohammad of Morian Bathian, Thannamandi in Rajouri, was booked by the crime branch of police for allegedly issuing fake and forged appointment orders to 139 persons on behalf of commissioner of health and medical education department. He is at present putting up at Dream City, Patta Ploura, here. The judge observed that the petitioner had allegedly defrauded a section of society by impersonating as a retired Army Brigadier. "He has received a huge amount of money from very poor people in lieu of fake appointment orders. How can one justify these acts more so when evidence, that has come forth, prima facie suggests his involvement? So, the argument of counsel for petitioner does not appeal to common sense and does not fulfill the basic logic for which it has been advanced," he said. The court said this was a case which certainly "falls under exception to the settled rule bail not jail". "The petitioner's conduct pre and post registration of the case is highly questionable and further investigation is expected to reveal much more and the court does not find any reason to extend him concession of bail at this stage. The bail petition is accordingly dismissed," the judge directed. "Whatever has been stated above shall be limited to this bail petition only without any prejudice to the rights of the petitioner or the merit of the investigation," the court said and rejected the bail application.
