Jammu, Mar 22: CBI's anti-corruption bureau has registered a case against an employee of GE (Garrison Engineer), Udhampur, and Shagun Builders for fraudulently manipulating an invoice and claiming Rs 5,87,265 against the purchase of steel pipes in 2011. It was alleged that Shagun Builder was in 2011 awarded special work to repair the existing water pipe line between Dhar Road Military Station and Udhampur being the lowest bidder for the amount of Rs 17,72,439.30. The contractor showed procurement of 48 steel pipes for Rs 5,87,265 vide March 6, 2012 invoice No 1219. He, however, allegedly connived with B S Linganaik, then AGE E/M and some unknown MES officials who abused their official position and facilitated claim on the forged invoice, causing loss of Rs 5,87,265 to the government exchequer. After registration of FIR, CBI sought search warrants and and raided the house of Jia Lal Khajuria and Rita Devi, partners of Shagun Builders. (JNF) |
