Mehbooba has been coerced into 'forging' alliance with BJP....? | | | Early Times Report jammu, Mar 22: Recent political developments having pushed the Government formation from possibility mode into political expediency, second innings of PDP-BJP alliance Government is almost on cards and a matter of time now. The moot question is, will this new dispensation be strong and stable or prove to be the weakest ever coalition in the State …? Sources said PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti who was following a calibrated strategy while taking her own time over the issue of forging alliance with BJP in the second innings has actually been forced and coerced into take this final step almost in an expedient mode. Sources said as her own 'loyalist' group was in haste and hurry and not in mood to delay formation of Government, this led her into take the final call and decision without political bargain and any major gain into her kitty in terms of 'extra mile' assurance from the BJP. Sources also confirmed this group which remained 'loyal' with late Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Syed and showed same conduct to the party chief Mehbooba after his demise, was lately propped up by the BJP Central leadership as a backup plan group to be 'used' in the event of Mehbooba refusing to budge from her stand on forging alliance with BJP again. Since this group had outsmarted the senior leaders of PDP and even founder members in the last two years, Mehbooba trusted them to the core and got misled on many counts, sources said, adding that the party chief was left with no option than to 'surrender' to their will and wishes over Government formation which is why and how she has been in a way coerced into taking this step. Sources said the indecisiveness and firm, rather rigid stand of the PDP chief over the last two months had disappointed the group within the party to the extent that it fell into BJP's 'trap' of keeping them as backup plan for making the new Government. However, they too followed the BJP tactics for furthering their personal ambitions of sticking to power, sources said, adding that in the entire sequence of political developments during the last couple of days this group made it clear to party chief that if she sticks to her position, she would get isolated in the party in the scenario to emerge on the political landscape of the PDP-BJP 're marriage'. She has now realised the new face of politics from within her own party and on the wider picture in which her own 'trusted lieutenants', changed her position and status from and undisputed leader being dispensable, all for the sake of power. |
