Srinagar, Mar 22: What pointman of BJP for Jammu and Kashmir, Ram Madhav, could not do in three months, Prime MinisterNarendra Modi succeded to make way for government formation with PDP in his first meet.
Modi has to personally take over the responsibility of ensuring formation of government in Jammu and Kashmir and to ask his party leaders not to get involved after according to sources he expressed unhappiness over the efforts being employed by his party men appointed for the particular task.
The unhappiness of Modi according to sources came to fore after he did not motivated any one from his party particularly the pointed man of BJP for Jammu and Kashmir, Ram Madhav to meet PDP President, Mehbooba Mufti today.
Mehbooba was flanked by Dr Haseeb Drabu, former finance minister, who had earlier negotiated the Agenda of Alliance on behalf of former Chief Minister, Mufti Muhammad Syed, however there was no one from BJP with Prime Minister Modi to meet PDP Chief and Drabu.
A series of meetings between PDP and BJP leaders, especially the BJP national general secretary, Ram Madhav who was authorized by his party to make way for government formation failed.
According to sources it was failure of these meetings that led the Prime Minister to personally take over the responsibility of government formation in Jammu and Kashmir and solve the crises.
Seeing no headway Sources said that Prime Minister expressed his willingness to talk directly to PDP Chief and convey her support of union government to PDP-BJP government at all fronts.
Sources said that to get things back on track, finance minister Arun Jaitley had been directed by Prime Minister as well to issue a fair-weather statement on Kashmir and make way for government formation after a meeting of PDP Chief and BJP party head last week yielded no fruits.
Immediately after her meeting with Prime Minister today, PDP Chief said that "it was a positive meeting, I am satisfied with the deliberations. I will now meet the leaders from my party on Thursday and decide what is to be done."
Political government in Jammu and Kashmir met a jolt after the sudden demise of former Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Syed on January 7 and Since then Jammu and Kashmir is under Governor rule.
In three months of political impasse there were two serious attempts by PDP and BJP to go for the government formation but it failed times as Mehbooba Mufti had sought certain assurances which she termed as "Confidence Buidling measures" on key areas envisaged in the agenda of alliance between the two parties but the BJP was terming it "new conditions".
Some noted Political analysts of Kashmir said that exemplary work of Governor NN Vohra during his three months tenure forced both PDP and BJP to negotiate on differences and enter in alliance.
Pertinently Governor Vohra during his tenure took very important decisions which includes, Relief to flood hit victims, implementation of NFSA, check out of Army establishments from Srinagar and Jammu cities,dredging of River Jhelum, establishing AIIMS, proposing smart cities for twin capitals, construction of tunnel for Mughal Road and clearing left out Daily rated workers. |
