Srinagar, Mar 22: The state high court today granted three weeks last opportunity to police, investigating into the killing of seven civilians in Saderkoot in north Kashmir's Bandipora district in 1996, to complete its investigation. "The investigating officer shall proceed in the matter and arrest the accused wherever they are," a single bench of the court comprising Justice A M Magrey said and granted three weeks last chance as sought by the additional advocate general R A Khan who said that all steps necessary to arrest the accused have been taken to arrest the accused and file the chargesheet before the competent court of law. According to police, government gunmen-Mohammad Ayub Dar, Abdul Rashid Parray (alias) Rashid Billa and Wali Mohammad Mir are accused in the case. Dar, police said, was working with Territorial Army of 161 Bn but Assistant Solicitor General of India, informed the court that he has been disbanded. Investigating officer, who was present in the court, said that the information about his disbanding has been received by him only now. Advocate Pervaiz Imroz, counsel representing the victim families, said that the approach of state government as well as investigating officer has been casual. "The concern of advocate Imroz, is well registered," the court said and granted three weeks last opportunity to the investigating officer to make the necessary arrests. "He shall avail all the legal remedies in this behalf to avoid any difficulty of whatsoever nature, including approaching the judicial magistrate, for seeking necessary orders," the court said and posted the case for hearing for further consideration on April 16. The court also directed the magistrate to pass orders of the arrest of the accused. |
