'Sikhs for Humanity' vow to help weaker sections of society

Jammu, Mar 22: To provide specialized legal assistance to people belonging to weaker sections of society including accident victims and prisoners, and to fight for the cause of underprivileged in the society, and work for rehabilitation of drug addicts and alcoholics, a team of dynamic youth under the patronage of Surinder Singh Advocate launched an NGO 'Sikhs for Humanity' here at Nanak Nagar today.
The head office of Sikhs for Humanity was inaugurated by MLA Nagrota Devender Singh Rana.
Speaking on the occasion, Rana said that keeping up with the secular credentials of Sikhs, "Sikhs for Humanity" shall work for the society without differentiating the beneficiaries of their colour, caste or creed. Stressing on significance of secularism, he said that by practicing secular thought many adverse situations can be transformed into camaraderie and harmonious dwellings. Chairman Sikhs for Humanity Surinder Singh Advocate said that objective of this endeavour is to create a sustainable impact in the lives of needy and those who get entangled in litigations due to accidents, etc. "Our NGO shall prove to act as a family which will always be inclined towards charity and social cause by helping people who cannot afford to get justice from courts because of their poor economic conditions", said Surinder.He said that besides these objectives, Sikhs for Humanity will also provide free financial and medical assistance to poor and orphans, jobs for widows and underprivileged, rehabilitation of drug addicts and alcoholics besides organizing blood donation camps. Others who were present on the occasion included Prof. Harbans Singh , Amrik Singh, Jujhar Singh Rissam, Rattan Lal Gupta , Babu Ram Pal, Kashmir Singh, Dharamveer Singh and others.
