Which side is lying? The BJP or the PDP | | | Which party is correct? The BJP, which continues to harp on its stand against accepting fresh demands from the PDP leadership or the PDP, which has repeated many a times that the party had not made any fresh demand or laid any fresh condition for the formation of the Government. Well neither both sides can be wrong nor the BJP and the PDP can be right. Either the PDP is trying to keep its cards close to its chest or the BJP is trying to make a mountain out of the hole. Notwithstanding repeate denials by the senior PDP leaders that the party President, Mehbooba Mujfti had not laid down any fresh condition or demand for the formation of the Government the BJP raked up the issue once again. Is the BJP trying to repeat its lies to make people believe that whatever it says is right ?Possibly so because neither PDP MP, Muzaffar Hussain Baig nor former Education Minister,Naeem Akhtar, can be wrong as they stuck to their stand by saying, repeatedly that the PDP had not made any fresh or any new demand. If the BJP argument carries some weight it is in the way Mehbooba has remained silent. The BJP has claimed it was in touch with several Peoples Democratic Party legislators who were in favour of government formation in Jammu and Kashmir, but added it would "never" accept new conditions for alliance put forth by its president Mehbooba Mufti.Several PDP legislators who are in favour of government formation and who also don't want midterm polls are in touch with the BJP leadership is the fresh claim of the BJP.Does the BJP want to kick up "Aaya Ram Gayaa Ram era "in Jammu and Kashmir ? This can be simply a wishful thinking on the part of one BJP MLA but even if the BJP, which had 25 MLAs is able to rope in 10 to 12 PDP MLAs it falls short of the magic figure of 44 that is required for Government formation. Yes, there is no doubt that majority of PDP legislators are in favour of Government formation because they know that in case of a midterm election nothing is definite for the success opf the PDP and the BJP. What actually the PDP wants is a firm commitment from the BJP that doable clauses of the agenda of alliance would be fulfilled. And here also the BJP played with words by telling the PDP that let the Government be formed and later the commitment to fulfill some basic points of the agenda of alliance was to be dished out. However, Friday-Saturday development in New Delhi was so fast that BJP did not want to give another chance to the PDP to think again. What was funny on the part of the BJP leadership, especially the general secretary Ram Madhav, is the way he and Amiot Shah, BJP President, cut short the meeting with Mehbooba by telling the world that it was not ready to concede fresh demands made by Mehbooba. And by making loud its point Mehbooba's attempt at having a meeting with Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, could not materialize. In fact it was on Saturday that the BJP, on its part decided to end the alliance with the PDP without realising that it would cause bigger harm to the BJP than to the PDP because the BJP has already suffered a major erosion in its vote bank in the region of Jammu. Possibly the BJP wishes to win over the support of some MLAs from PDP for forming the Government. Yes, there are a number of legislators from PDP who are in favour of formation of the Government but these legislator may not revolt against Mehbooba because they know that any disloyalty to Mehbooba may ultimately cut short their political career. And there is need for both the BJP and the PDP to adopt caution. The BJP is advised to give up big brotherly attitude because for the first time in its history the PDP had enabled it to share power in Jammu and Kashmir. |
