Gang of notorious burglars busted stolen cash, items recovered

JAMMU, Mar 22: Khour police today claimed to have busted a gang of notorious burglars with the arrest of five accused besides recovering stolen cash and other items.
"Police have identified the arrested as Pawan Kumar alias Puma of Nawabad Sunjwan, Mohd Shafi alias Ganja of Cheta Thatri presently at Patanu Rehambal Udhampur, Abdul Rehman alias Raju presently at Patanu Rehambal Udhampur, Subash Chander alias Puran of Tophsherkhania Jammu, Raj Kumar alias Radhay of Budhwal Khour," police sources said.
Giving details, police sources said that they were detained on March 17 of this year under suspicion ground in a case under FIR no: 23/2016 u/s 457 and 380 of RPC and they turned out to be notorious burglars during sustained questioning.
"During questioning, the burglars' confession led to recovery of stolen cash amounting Rs 56800 of case FIR no 23/2016 u/s 457 and 380 of RPC, FIR no. 24/2016 under sections 457 and 380 of RPC of Police Station Khour," police said.
"A maruti car bearing regd no JK14-4214 and a Pulsar bike bearing regd no: JK02BM-9809 purchased out of the stolen property used for some crime too were seized", said police sources, adding that the accused also have confessed their involvement in two theft cases for which cased stand registered in Police Station Akhnoor, one theft case registered at Police Station Baribrahmna.
"The thefts have been verified by Khour police, sources said, adding, "more revelations and recoveries may follow on their disclosures."
Pertinent to mention here that the gang members used to recce the area in the disguise of blanket/shawl sellers or by visiting homes as dish operators, electricians, fitters, etc.
A similar gang was also busted in the year 2003 at Gandhi Nagar police station and a dozen of burglary cases registered in Gandhi Nagar and Satwari police stations were solved by then SHO Gandhi Nagar.
