UDHAMPUR, Mar 23 : To showcase the rich art and cultural heritage, a one-day "Dogra Heritage Festival" was organised here today. The festival had participation from students of Government schools across the district with an aim to promote cultural values among students and propagate culture. An exhibition of Dogra heritage including household articles, agricultural implements, ornaments, household articles, ceremonial objects, dresses, designs, paintings and models was also organised as a part of Dogra Heritage Mela. A cultural programme comprised of more than 25 different items depicting the Dogra history, lifestyle, ceremonies, celebrations, festivals and other aspects of culture was also organised with thousands in attendance as audience. District Development Commissioner Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary inaugurated the exhibition and cultural carnival of Dogra Heritage Mela and complimented the students for their outstanding performances. He highlighted the endeavour of district administration and various departments to showcase and promote the rich regional culture and informed that the Dogra Heritage Museum and Tribal Heritage Museums are under process which will be of great educational value. He also announced a one-day camp for all children artists of Dogra Festival at Patnitop. Around 153 students from 20 odd schools drawn from 11 Educational zones presented their performances during the mela which was a rich platform for cultural and artistic exchange among students of Udhampur, Ramnagar, Basantgarh, Dudu, Panchari, Moungri, Latti, Jakhed and other remote areas. CEO Bishen Singh, PO DRDA Dr. Jagdish Mehra, CMO Dr. Chander Parkash, DTO Romesh Singh, XeN PHE Rajesh Gupta and senior officers of district administration were also present on the occasion. |
