Govt formation: Excitement runs high among prospective ministers | Cadres, workers within both parties cold to development | | Early Times Report jammu, Mar 23: Even as excitement runs high in both the camps of PDP and BJP among prospective ministers over prospects of government getting stronger after Mehbooba-Modi meet, the workers and cadres of both the alliance partners once again to be are cold and unmoved over this development. So is an element of enthusiasm , not to speak of delight missing among the common people and supporters in the two regions. Sources said PDP workers and cadres who were not so eager for the party leadership to forge alliance with BJP yet again are not showing any signs of thrill or happiness possibility of government formation of the party, no matter it will continue to be in steering chair of new dispensation. Sources said the majority of the cadres and who were already disillusioned and disappointed with party leadership having decided to have alliance with BJP last year on account of sharp and pointed ideological differences, are no more happy over what appears to be renewed political arrangement with BJP for the sake of forming the government. Sources said there are many senior functionaries within the PDP apart from sidelined stalwarts who were of the opinion that leadership had got a chance of course correction to cover up and control the damage inflicted on account of having chosen BJP as its partner last year to form the government, but certain ambitious people having lust for the power made it happen yet again. It is only a group of few who are thrilled and excited over deadlock having ended and new dispensation on cards , said the sources, adding that from workers to cadres and even functionaries across the state view this development as not an advantageous move in the interests of the party. Even though PDP president Mehbooba Mufti is understood to have taken this step only to save her party from breaking and the possible split, indications about which had become amply clear, it has not been received well through the length and breadth of the party at least in Kashmir region, said the sources, adding that most of the people even outside the party contend that if earlier the alliance between PDP and BJP was seen as 'unethical' , it will now be seen as 'unholy'. Same is true for BJP workers and cadres in Jammu region where it is only the ex ministers and a few more aspiring to find berth are actually happy over the development of PDP president having made some movement forward. |
