PK pitches for pro-active policy to eradicate separatism
3/23/2016 11:57:32 PM

Early Times Report
jammu, Mar 23: The day (Mar 22) an all important meeting took place at 7, Race Course Road, New Delhi, between PM Narendra Modi and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti to break the over two-month-long deadlock over Government formation in the State, all the political parties, including the PDP and the BJP and the non-BJP and non PDP political parties and groups came out with their reactions. While the PDP and the BJP welcomed the talks and expressed hope that their Government would be in place possibly in the month of March itself, parties like the NC, the Congress and the JKNPP criticized both the parties and asked their leadership as to why there was an inordinate delay as far as the decision on the Government formation was concerned. The non-PDP and the non-BJP political outfits also asked the PDP and the BJP leadership to take the people of the State into confidence by informing them as to what transpired during the 30-minute meeting between the Prime Minister and the PDP president. They with one voice asked the BJP and the PDP leadership to reveal what the BJP conceded and what the PDP conceded so that the people of the State, the real stakeholders, came to know what broke the logjam.
However, it was the Panun Kashmir (PK), the premier organization of the persecuted and hounded out Kashmiri Hindus, which reacted more sharply. It wanted to know if the BJP had again endorsed the Agenda of Alliance on the basis of which the PDP-BJP coalition Government was formed on March 1, 2015 or it had told the PDP president that the BJP would be part of the coalition Government only on the basis of what Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said on Sunday. Jaitley had said that "we are committed to the agenda of governance".
Launching a scathing attack on the Government of India, PK leaders, Ajay Chrungoo, Chairman PK and Agnishekher, Convenor PK, asked the Modi Government to repudiate outright the Agenda of Alliance as basis of any political alliance for the Government formation in the State and warned that any dithering on the subject will undermine further the national resolve and efforts to meet the challenge of armed fundamentalist separatism in the State. "It is now amply clear that the Agenda of Alliance has become a tool of political blackmail to force a compromise which will jeopardize national integrity and sovereignty," they said, adding that it was high time that Government of India realized that accommodating soft-separatism or half way separatism had only resulted in widening the reach of separatism and fundamentalism in the State. "It has nourished a separatist polity in the State… and created a subversive order which has been weakening the State from within," the PK leaders said without mincing words.
"The PK had warned that an alliance in the State based on a document like Agenda of Alliance will prove to be a deadly embrace for BJP. It has proved to be so in less than a year. The ruling party in the Centre is now in one of its worst predicaments in the State," they further said, and added that the "grip of radical Islam on the organs of society in Kashmir and parts of Jammu is growing with each day and the terrorist campaigns in the State showed a "brazen affiliation with global terrorist campaigns". "We are witnessing a two-pronged Intifada in which terrorist attacks are simultaneously complimented with public mobilizations. The Government of India should take notice that terrorist regimes are attacking across the International Border. They are attacking the military targets and Government establishments," they said in this regard.
The PK leaders didn't stop just there. They further asked the Government of India to realize that attempts were being made by Kashmiri parties to subject the elections in the State to the sanction of Government of Pakistan and Hurriyat leaders, who wanted to use the Government as "an instrument to force a compromise with the separatist cause". "The Government of India cannot ignore the fact that separatist cadres have successfully infiltrated our educational system. They have successfully integrated with fissiparous and separatist elements in rest of India. The JNU episode is an eye opener. That Kashmiri students who raised seditious and Pro-Pak slogans in JNU are still free will only encourage seditious and secessionist tendencies in Jammu and Kashmir as well as rest of India," they said.
They also reiterated their demand seeking bifurcation of Kashmir and establishment of Panun Kashmir within the Valley invested with Union territory status. "The Government of India should be wise enough now to see that Hindus of Kashmir are not only struggling to fight the forces of genocide and reclaim their homeland in the form of Union territory north and east river Jhelum in Kashmir, but are also in the forefront of correcting the national discourse on nationalism and patriotism," they said.
The upshot of the whole argument advanced by the PK leaders was: "There is no space for ambivalence. There is no space for any political expediency. Situation in the State is deteriorating fast that any soft-pedaling with separatism will prove to be disastrous. The Government of India has to strengthen the national resolve and efforts to eradicate the scourge of armed fundamentalist separatism in the State to maintain the country's unity and integrity and uphold the country's sovereignty…It must not force a compromise which will jeopardize national integrity and sovereignty".
The fact of the matter is that while the non-PDP and the non-BJP parties asked the PDP and the Prime Minister's office to come clean on what demands were made by Mehbooba Mufti as a pre-requisite for Government formation in the State and what concessions, if any, were granted in the meeting with the Prime Minister and questioned the role of the PDP and the BJP after the demise of Chief Minister Mufti Sayeed, the PK questioned the very Agenda of Alliance and focused on the issues concerning national unity and integrity and pitched for a pro-active policy against the terrorist regimes and batted for a Government in the State that is nationalistic in approach and that takes head on the radical and secessionist forces.
