Court turns down Farooq-led JKCA's prayer for interim relief | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Mar 23: A local court here today dismissed separate applications filed by Farooq Abdullah-led JKCA for interim relief to run the affairs of the state's cricket association and its bank accounts. "New dispensation headed by Imran Raza Ansari as its president is currently managing the affairs of JKCA and BCCI has also remitted the share of the association through account bearer cheques meant for the players representing the state. If defendant (Ansari faction) is restrained to run the affairs, it would cause more hardship to defendant rather than plaintiff (Farooq-led faction)," the court of 2nd additional district and session judge, Sham Lal Lalhal said. To the claims od JKCA (Farooq faction) that it would suffer irreparable loss if interim relief was not granted, the court said: "An irreparable may be described as a loss which cannot be compensated in terms of money but in the present case, plaintiff shall not suffer any irreparable loss as the same can be compensated in case they succeed in their suits." The court, however, made it clear that the dismissal of pleas for interim relief would not affect the merit of main suits. Farooq and General Secretary M L Nehru had sought court directions to declare that Ansari and his associates had no authority to maintain, run and operate any bank account of JKCA including those at branch office, Air Cargo, Srinagar, and BC Road, Jammu. They had also sought directions to J&K bank authorities to allow them to maintain and run these accounts without any interference or impediment. On July 20 this year, Farooq was dethroned as JKCA president after a faction of the cricket body elected PDP leader and former Sports minister Imran Raza Ansari as its new chief. |
