Early Times Report
Ramban, Mar 23 : Contrary to the tall claims of the state government of having streamlined the healthcare delivery system in every nook and corner of the state, the government run hospital i.e. District Hospital (DH) Ramban presents a very gloomy picture of medicare facilities as majority of patients and accident victims to be referred to either Govt Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu or SKIMS Soura for medicare. Series of referrals besides acute shortage of medical staff, including doctors is giving an impression that all is not well with the District Hospital (DH) Ramban. Some locals have also protested here today over frequent referral of ailing and sick persons. They also demanded to equip the District Hospital Ramban with more faculties so as to give better services to the people. Continuing the referrals of the four persons injured critically in a two different road accidents in Ramban, two critically injured have been shifted to GMCH Jammu. According to police, a truck on its way from Jammu to Srinagar hit a Figo (JK02AK-6262), near Peer Baba Ramban in three persons Sahil Dogra (27) son of Sudesh Kumar Dogra and Avinash Dogra (24) son of Mahinder Kumar Dogra both resident of Maitra Ramban and Partap Singh (43) son of Jodh Ram resident of Bajmasta village of Ramsoo in district Ramban were injured. The locals shifted to them District Hospital (DH) Ramban, where doctors referred to one critically injured Avinash Dogra after giving first aid to Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu for further treatment. Doctors also have referred another accident victim Zubaida Begum wife of Gulam Mohammad Wani resident of ward no. 4, cafeteria Ramban to GMC H Jammu after she got critically injured when a Tavera bearing registration no. JK03D-1146 hit her here today. Pertinent to mention here that the DH Ramban lacks major basic facilities due to which the doctor failed to provide the suitable treatment and immediately referred accident victims either to Jammu or Srinagar, owing which some of the critical patients are not fortunate to reach to premier hospital in Jammu or Srinagar. Locals alleged that this is not for the first time when accident victim was referred to GMC&H Jammu and demanded authorities to make and upgrade District Hospital Ramban to cater the much needed critical care facilities for the seriously injured person. They lamented that as now-a-days condition of NH is very bad due to recent harsh weather and land sliding which also consumes precious life saving time for the patient. Locals also have appealed to the MLA Ramban and district administration to look into the matter and enable every facility in DH Ramban as Ramban district is accident prone area, required fully equipped hospital to tackle such incidents. Earlier Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA), Ramban Neelam Kumar Lengah visited DH Ramban to inquire whereabouts of the injured persons and directed the concern doctors to provide better treatment to the patients.
