BJP playing with fire; bartering national interest : Hari Om | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 23 : Expressing concern over the Tuesday behind-the-scene parley between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti in New Delhi on government formation in J&K and the decision of the PMO not to issue a handout on what transpired during the meeting, Prof Hari Om today said that the BJP is playing with fire and bartering national interest just for the sake of a few loaves and fishes of office. "The BJP is playing with fire and bartering not only the interests of the people of Jammu province but also of the entire nation by forging an alliance with a party whose credentials are highly doubtful and which vouches for a regime that is virtually outside the political and constitutional organization of India, pitches for 'supra-state measures' and 'shared sovereignty', bats for demilitarization of the sensitive border state and has a very friendly approach towards Pakistan, separatists and terrorists," he said. He asked if the Prime Minister Office had accepted the PDP's unsettling demands seeking demilitarization of the state, revocation of AFSPA, vacation of the land the Army uses for training purposes and operations against the enemies of the nation, transfer of NHPC-managed Dulhasti and Uri power projects to J&K Government, self-rule or something more than the atrocious and separatist Article 370 envisages, trilateral talks on J&K between India, Pakistan and Kashmiri separatists, trifurcation of Jammu province into plains of Jammu, Chenab Valley and Pir Panjal Valley, absorption of the Kashmiri Hindus in the radical Islamic Kashmiri milieu and office of Chief Minister for full five years and the portfolios and ministries it got in 2015. The PMO must inform the nation in general and people of Jammu province in particular about the power-sharing deal that the Prime Minister and the PDP chief struck to break the impasse over the government formation in J&K, said Prof Hari Om. It has become absolutely necessary considering the statement of PDP spokesperson that the differences between the PDP and BJP over the Agenda of Alliance stood sorted out. India is a democratic country and the PMO cannot decide the fate of the people of Jammu province and other nationalists in the state by taking recourse to the behind-the-scene-talks methodology, he further said, adding that they have every right to know what exactly happened during the meeting and what concessions the PMO granted to the PDP in its desperate bid to again become part of J&K Government. "The people of Jammu province had not voted for the BJP to become slaves of Kashmir. They had voted for the BJP to ensure their liberation from Kashmir, end the over 67-year-old Kashmiri domination and hegemony over them and obtain a dispensation that would be of them, for them and by them. They had not given power of attorney to the PMO to barter them and their interests to appease, pamper and arm the Kashmiri ruling elite with unbridled legislative, executive and financial powers so that it could further strengthen its stranglehold over Jammu province and exploit its people and natural resources to benefit Kashmir and Kashmiri people," Prof Hari Om said. He warned that the people of Jammu province, who are already chapping and seething with anger of an extreme form, will rise in revolt against the BJP in case it violated and subverted the mandate it got in the 2014 general and Assembly elections. |
