Several roads in dilapidated condition in Poonch | | | MS NAZKI

Poonch, Mar 23: Due to incessant rains that lashed the state for many days earlier, several vital roads in this district developed potholes and ditches dilapidating their condition further which caused hardships to the people sources said here today. The rains washed away many roads and developed potholes and ditches on the roads that include Mendhar to Surankote roads via Harni where as Mendhar to Kalaban road, Chhattral, Balakote, Naka Majhari roads and Salwah and Balnoi roads were heavily damaged and water logged the sources said, adding the people have been facing many hardships while using these road. The vehicles even ply at snail's pace which according to locals was a futile exercise in the area, they added. "An eye witness said that a pregnant lady delivered baby in vehicle because the vehicle in which she was on her way to hospital could not reach hospital in time due to bad shape of the roads." Most of the roads in tehsils of Surankote, Mandi, Poonch, Mankote and other roads touching the several hemlets were in dilapidate condition and water logged for the last many days the sources further added. Chairman Youth Club Mendhar Advocate Nadeem Ahmed Khan while taking to Early Times said that several delegations from different areas have called on him and apprised the problems they have been facing for the last quite some time besides he has received many phone calls in this regard and I urged the concerned authorities to take up the measure to repair the measure to repair the damaged roads at the earliest so that the people of affected areas could heave a sigh of relief. Khan also urged District Development Commissioner Poonch, MH Malik and PWD authorities to take up the road repairing issue on priority in the district as people of this district have been facing many problems he added. |
