Azad grieved over demise of Pt Shamboo Nathji Sopori | | | Eary Times Report
Jammu, Mar 23: Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and Former J&K Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has expressed grief and shock over the sad demise of Pt. Shamboo Nathji Sopori - the legendary Santoor maestro of the country. Offering heartfelt condolences to his family and especially Pt. Bhajan Sopori - who, as a proud son of his illustrious father did justice to the great legacy of Pt. Shamboo Nathiji Sopori - Azad said that today the nation and the state of Jammu & Kashmir has lost a cultural ambassador of highest repute. Azad said that Pt. Shamboo Nathji Sopori made enormous contributions to the cultural landscape of the country by propagating and promoting Hindustani classical music and traditional Kashmir musical instrument, namely, Santoor. Referring to his stellar contributions, Azad said it is due to the tireless efforts of Pt. Shamboo Nathji Sopori that world is familiar with Santoor. "ShambooNathji kept the flame of classical music hit and trained thousands of students in classical music", said Azad adding that his illustrious disciples are spreading the message of love and harmony throughout the length and breadth of country. Azad prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and grant of courage to his family, friends, disciples and fans to bear the irreparable loss. |
