Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 12: Failure of successive governments to boost corporate sector in the State in general and Jammu region in particular has forced the thousands of youth especially technocrats to migrate to other parts of country for jobs in private sector. The failure of successive governments to pursue rapid industrialization of the State or promote tourism sector has been main cause of unemployment in the militancy ravaged J&K.
According to sources the 26 year long turmoil in the Valley has given a lot of setback to the devleopment in the State as governemnt failed to give boost to private sector by giving impetus to industrial and tourism sectors in the State. Though experts have not suggested establishment of major industries in Kashmir Valley to protect its scenic beauty no proper steps were also established to promote the tourism to create employment opportunities for the youth, sources added.
Sources said that though Jammu has been a fertile place for the establishment of industries but due to lack of proper attention from the successive governments the majority of outsider industrialist who had established their units in Jammu region had also closed their units due lack of industry friendly attitude establishment. The withdrawal of package by previous UPA Government has been one of the major setback to industries, sources added. Sources said that though industrialists are crying for package and support from the Government for decades together no steps were taken by successive governments in this regard till date. This is the reason that many industrial units are on way of packing up. The present PDP-BJP coalition which had made tall claims of brining a new industrial policy soon after taking over last year has also failed to do any thing concrete in this regard, sources added.
Sources said had the Successive State governments taken steps from the beginning in establishing corporate sector in the State on the pattern of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Karnataka, Andhara , Maharashtra etc the economic status of the people would have improved to a great extent. If the Haryana could develop Gurgoan a Corporate city and UT of Chandigarh could be devleoped as corporate city where the youth from various parts of Northern India can get the employment opportunities why the successive governments could not have towed such an idea for Jammu.
The Jammu too could have been developed a good corporate city which could have not only helped in tackling the unemployment problem in the State but would have not also forced the talented youth from the State especially from this region to migrate to other parts of the country, sources added.
Sources said that migration of youth from Jammu is becoming cause of concern for the people and if serious efforts were not made to arrest this trend the day will not be left when entire talented youth of the region will leave to other states and corporate cities for seeking job and they will in turn settle there. It is high time for the government both at Delhi and in the State to pay attention towards this problem so that situation will not deteriorate further, sources added. Sources said that State of J&K has equal talented people but looking towards the other states like Karnataka, Mahar-ashtra, Punjab, Haryana, Andhara as well as Tamil Nadu and Uttarakhand J&K is farbehind in exploiting the private sector due to the lack of will of the successive government in the State who instead of taking innovate decisions to boost the economy had only learnt to go with a begging bowl before the Union Government, sources added.
