BJP to give full support to PDP, hints Jaitely | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 12: The BJP has decided to give full support to the PDP for the continuation of the Government so that it lasts its full term. The subtle but sure message was given about it today by the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in Jammu. Jaitley said the forming Government with the PDP was also a reason to fight separatism in the Kashmir by taking the mainstream parties of the Kashmir along with the BJP. The Finance Minister has by this statement clearly hinted that even if the PDP continues to pursue its 'soft separatism' policies it won't have any objections. It also suggests that BJP will not make any more noises if the PDP is seen as helping separatism rather than containing it with hard hand for the full term of the Government. The BJP has come to the power for the first time. It feels that if the party goes hammering about nationalism, it could end up getting out of the alliance and out of the Government it could be again rendered doing only protests. Some believe that this complete turn-around in the politics of the BJP is also reflective of the fact it is no more a party with a 'difference' but is soon graduating out to be B-team of the Congress, which also preached strong about nationalism and also rights of the Jammu but continued to support Omar Abdullah to the hilt who had questioned the succession of the State many times, which many believe was because it wanted to remain in power. "The BJP has clearly dropped its nationalistic pretensions. It is coming too real now. On the other hand, the PDP has not shown even a hint that it's going back on the 'final ' solution of Kashmir, which shows why the PDP even with equal number is still dictating the terms," said a senior old timer BJP leader. |
